My best friend and I planned to go to Thailand, Cambodia and the surrounding areas coming some years (for about a month), but I'm not really sold on the idea more … because of all the problems of late. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good-ish, charming holiday destinations with beautiful beaches, etc. (as Thailand has to offer). Thank you in advance! =]

I will go to Thailand (business) and Cambodia, and will take two cameras, laptops and iPod with me. I heard that all power connections in this region are 220 ??volts. I'll need to convert for 110 volts to be able to recharge the batteries. Should I take a converter with me, or will I be able to find a time I'll be there, at a reasonable price?
Most of these electronic devices accept 100-240V 50-60Hz input of these days and will convert the input to output correct automatically check the entry accepted in the little box on your AC adapter / converter strings. Tension in Cambodia but 230v is actually 10 volts is in the voltage tolerance of almost all devices. You can easily buy converters here in Thailand and many hotels can provide for you. You may or may not need adapters if you are in the United States that many sockets accept two blade and two blade-like prong plugs used United States, but only accept the type plugs with two round pins. This is a good idea to conduct a two round pin and a two-prong plug adapter Thailand and Cambodia. You can visit this site to learn all about electricity: http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm

best way to travel between the island of Phu Quoc and Kampot?
still planning our Vietnam / Cambodia trip. Thanks for all your thoughts answers. Now useful to Mekong Delta Tour of TNK Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc. Instead of flying back to Ho Chi Minh City with the tour group I am considering some way to go to Kampot in Cambodia, where possible, and then to Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat. All information gladly accepted. Also information on where to get a Cambodian visa long planned route?
The best way really is to fly back to Ho Chi Minh City and take another flight to Phnom Penh or Siem Reap. However, if you are adventurous, take a boat from Phu Quoc to Rach Gia via express boat along a regular basis. Rach Gia, take a bus or a taxi from Ha Tien from there you can pass into Cambodia close to Tien Bien. There will be drivers of the Cambodian side of the border to take you forward in Phnom Penh. PS I have just been informed by my wife there is a direct express boat launch Phu Quoc to Ha Tien, so you can check. This would save some time and road travel. Good luck! As a Cambodian visa, it is before you go to Asia Cambodian Embassy in your country. If not, get one while you're in HCMC by the Consulate of Cambodia it. Do not wait until you arrive at Phu Quoc, or at the border. Very random!
